Assess the damage
Document the existing installation, separate the damaged sections, and determine what can be preserved.
K4 Construction& RemodelCompleted project · Custom woodwork
K4 rebuilt and stabilized a damaged live-edge countertop, then prepared, sanded, and refinished the wood to restore its strength and character.

The project
The countertop had separated and required more than a cosmetic patch. K4 disassembled the damaged area, rebuilt and stabilized the slab, and carefully worked the repaired surface back into a continuous countertop.
Progress photos below are arranged in capture-date order, showing the original condition, repair work, surface preparation, and finished wood.
Document the existing installation, separate the damaged sections, and determine what can be preserved.
Fit the pieces back together and rebuild the countertop around its original shape and openings.
Reinforce the failed area and clamp the assembly while the repaired sections are secured.
Level the repaired surface and work through the preparation needed for a consistent finish.
Sand the countertop, refine the live edge, and apply the finish that brings out the natural grain.
Repair gallery
